Fire Department

A note from the Union Township Fire Department Fire Chief, Scott Derscheid.
We have been busy with several different types of training at our department:
| |
CPR
SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus)
confined space rescue training
corn silo rescue training
water rescue including dive rescue and public safety diving
fire pumper/driver operator
forcible entry
live fire trainings provided free from the Iowa Fire Service Training Bureau
|
Your fire department and its members have committed their time and services to you with the intention of providing you and your families with an increased dedication to protecting life and property.
Now to the latest news, our Township Trustees have authorized the purchase of a used fire truck to increase our pumping and fire fighting ability and to bring our department into the 21st century. We also plan to increase the size of our fire station which will give us room to store the equipment we received from the federal grant in 2006. This expansion will also allow us more space to safely park our trucks and to provide quality traiining to our members and those who provide us with mutual aid (which occurs at every structural fire in the county).
The addition on our fire station will occur with donations and with funds from the Township. If you are interested in donating to this cause, please mail your donation to:
